Can a leader in ophthalmology captivate the world's vision scientists?

With Eyegate 2024, we cocreated an exhibit that breaks with tradition, translating complex narratives into visually resonant experiences for ARVO audiences.

The challenge

A solo debut on a very busy floor.

Telios was making its solo debut at the 2024 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology conference, to generate awareness for TL-925, its Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor for dry-eye disease.

They sought an avant-garde "un-booth" experience — one that stood out on a crowded conference floor while communicating the science credibly to researchers, healthcare professionals and potential investors.

The approach

An eleven-foot portal with two faces.

The focal point was an 11-foot-tall, 13-foot-wide circular portal with double-sided LED walls. One side showed a bespoke 4.5-minute 3D high-definition mechanism-of-action animation illustrating the biology behind TL-925; the other carried the clinical development pipeline and trial data.

The Taylor Group's design embraced simplicity and sophistication — clean geometries, a refined palette, organic textures — with the exhibit floor fabricated from steel frames and CNC-cut millwork panels. Cognition added the information-rich visual system, an interactive iPad presentation, and a targeted social campaign.

Process

It started with pencil, and ended with steel.

01

Deep scientific immersion. A dive into ophthalmic and autoimmune research to keep the animations accurate and accessible.

02

Collaborative ideation. Aligning with Telios and The Taylor Group on creative vision through iterative storyboards, mood boards and style frames.

03

Iterative design and development. Reworking the animation to focus on specific steps of the dry-eye mechanism.

04

Precision fabrication. Custom-painted millwork and flush-mounted concentric steel inlays, with onsite support from both teams.

05

Multi-channel integration. A coordinated campaign on LinkedIn and X, plus the interactive iPad presentation.
