Ellen leads the scientific communications team for our biotech, global health, and research clients. She brings more than 20 years’ experience to Cognition in creative medical and scientific media development for large research institutions. She has authored more than 200 science articles for audiences ranging from elementary students to physicians.
Ellen is excited to combine her broad understanding of the biomedical sciences with deep expertise in external communications, social media, language level, continuing medical education, patient education, and health literacy.
She is a member of the National Association of Science Writers and a founding member of its Congress of Regional Science Writers Groups. She is also active in the Northwest Science Writers Association in Seattle.
Ellen previously was executive director of a medical nonprofit, led communications for Seattle Children’s pediatric bioethics center, and crafted content at the University of Washington on multiple federally funded projects. Ellen earned her MS in biochemistry from the University of California San Francisco and her BS in organismal biology from the University of Kansas.
