Now more than ever, we believe in the power of Design.

As we reflect on the early years of Cognition Studio, we’re struck by the notion that “design could change the world” was more of an aspirational hunch—or headline. Today, after 20 years of work in life sciences, medical research, education and global health, the knowledge that design has the power to change the world are now a deeply held belief rooted in lived experience.

While we’re not curing cancer or creating cutting-edge medical devices, the methods that we use to develop communications solutions for our clients—formulating theories, testing hypotheses, experimentation—always lead us to discoveries and new ways to tell their stories. The rapidly transforming field of life sciences is exciting, and it’s gratifying to know that our methodical approach to problem-solving resonates with our science-minded clients.

In collaborating with these visionary scientists, inventors, and professionals, we’re often awed. They’ve dedicated significant portions of their lives to the pursuit of improving the lives of others. Their work is often lifesaving and world changing, thus both incredibly inspiring and complex. It is a privilege for us to use our expertise in helping them realize their vision.

Looking back on 16 years of business, we’re struck by a sense of accomplishment and gratitude for the talented Cognition team who helped create it. And especially for the many clients who have trusted us to help them in their quest to advance scientific understanding and improve the human condition.
